About
Robin Katcher is the founder of Katcher Consulting, which accompanies justice leaders, organizations and networks seeking to create transformative change.
Robin is the former Executive Director of Change Elemental (formerly the Management Assistance Group), where she worked with clients for 16 years. Robin brings a deep commitment to racial equity and liberation, a strong curiosity around operating in complexity and emergence, and a fascination with how adults grow, learn and develop to all of her work.
Robin has assisted networks and organizations including: All Above All; Center for Law and Social Policy, Children Thrive Action Network, Equality Ohio; Family Justice Network; Family Values at Work; Jobs with Justice; Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; National Immigration Law Center; National Crittenton; National Women’s Law Center; Partnership for Working Families; Protecting Immigrant Families; Rutgers University Center for Innovation in Worker Organization; and a large anonymous foundation.
Robin is a frequent speaker, writer and sought-after expert. Recognizing the important yet often undervalued role of networks in building strong social movements, Robin conducted cutting-edge research whose findings were published in Nonprofit Quarterly as "Unstill Waters: The Fluid Role of Networks in Social Movements" and she spearheaded MAG’s Network Leadership Innovation Lab. She co-wrote Toward “Complex Adaptive Philanthropy”: Preliminary Learnings from the Network Leadership Innovation Lab as well as two academic chapters for organizational development practitioners. She is also the Lead Author of MAG's publications, Boards Matter and Advancing Your Cause Through the People You Manage. In June of 2019, Robin wrote “Leading Toward A Transformed Future in a Disrupted Present” for Nonprofit Quarterly.
Robin has also served on advisory boards for the Nonprofit Quarterly and Independent Sector. She is an Associate Consultant with Change Elemental, a member of the Social Transformation Project’s Art of Transformational Consulting Community of Practice, a part of the LeadersTrust and Ford Foundation’s BUILD networks, and a colleague with Cultivating Leadership. In addition, Robin is trained in Growth Edge Coaching, Cynefin model by Cognitive Edge, the Organizational Mapping Tool (OMT), and the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). She is a student learning practices developed by Generative Somatics, Emergent Strategy, and Equity at the Center. She is honored to partner with talented consultant partners across the country.
Robin identifies as a White, Queer, Jewish, cis-gender woman. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she has lived in Washington, DC (and neighboring Silver Spring, Maryland) since 1994. She and her fantastic partner live with their highly creative seven year old daughter and exceptionally fluffy puppy. In her spare time she loves to listen to diverse story tellers and has even taken a turn or two on the Story District stage.
